I am a journalist and writer. I've been a newspaper reporter and magazine editor, and have written a number of books and articles about food and small business. I've also written some history, in the form of a memoir I co-authored with my aunt, about her experiences during the Holocaust.
My newest book, due out officially July 4, 2013, is Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Food Rights: The Escalating Battle Over Who Decides What We Eat. (It should be available to those who have pre-ordered by early June.) Like my previous book, The Raw Milk Revolution: Behind America’s Emerging Battle Over Food Rights, it includes a preface by farmer and food rights advocate Joel Salatin.
Before writing about food issues, my prior book was about my family’s experiences during the Holocaust: Inge: A Girl’s Journey Through Nazi Europe. I have also authored or co-authored seven books on various aspects of small business. One of those was Burn Your Business Plan! What Investors Really Want from Entrepreneurs. It provides entrepreneurs with concrete guidance for going beyond written business plans to attract investor interest. It has been widely praised by entrepreneurs, investors, and academics alike, and is used as a teaching tool in many business schools around the country.
In 1995, I co-founded an Internet marketing company that grew to 20 employees and was acquired in late 1999 by a public corporation.
