Lisa is joined by Chloe Carmichael, Ph.D. a licensed clinical psychologist, and author of “Nervous Energy: Harness the Power of Your Anxiety” (Macmillan, 2021), Dr. Chloe says that while the pandemic has been a source of stress for everyone, if you are a goal-oriented person, “to-do list” diehard, overachiever, or over-analyzer, you may be experiencing more anxiety than the average person. Even before the term, COVID-19 had entered our vocabulary, burnout, stress, and anxiety were significant issues in the workplace and society in general. And while some experts predict the coronavirus pandemic will be the most psychologically toxic disaster in anyone’s lifetime, Dr. Chloe says there are nine easy-to-use tools at anyone’s disposal that can help to harness nervous energy, or what some may describe as high anxiety, to live a more productive and fulfilling life.

She shares four of the 9 anxiety tools in this interview that she details in her new book to help successful people harness nervous energy including:
  • Creating mental shortlists
  • Creating emotion-based to-do lists
  • Scripting anchoring statements
  • Scheduling “worry time.”
More than one-third of Americans have displayed clinical signs of anxiety, depression, or both since the coronavirus pandemic began, according to Pew Research Center. 2021 is the perfect year to reimagine how we handle stress and Dr. Chloe shares simple ways to adjust and thrive through inevitable life changes.
