(00:01):
Oh, Frankie Valley who doesn't knowthat song? Well, guess what,
guys, you get the chance torelive those glory days because Valley meaning Valleydale,
Valley Does Valley reflection of Frankie Valley. And I have to tell you
this before we interview our next guestof Nick Cosgrove, Londa of Valley Dale.
(00:21):
She was listening to our recent conversationabout license plates personalized yes van Yeah.
She said that she has a Nissanthree hundred ZX and it's snazzy one
snazzy like that. This is gonnabe such a fun interview. Nick Cosgrove
tell us about this event going onat the Valley Dale. Valley Does Valley.
(00:46):
So we're very excited to be doingthe show again. It is the
fourth year of us bringing this showover to the Valley Dale. The show
runs about in our fifteen minutes andit pretty much me telling my story of
being a part of the cast ofJersey Boys. So I tied it into
(01:07):
making in a mother's day show becauseI grew up on this music. My
grandma was the first one introducing meto it, and you know, then
my mother and so it is afun time for me of getting to tell
stories of my childhood and then alongwith auditioning for the show and my full
story with it. Jersey Boys. You know, Nick is a show that
(01:30):
I've always wanted to see. Ithink it's come to Columbus what once or
twice with Broadway across America and Kappa. I mean, I've heard amazing things
about that show. Yes, Iactually toured with the company that came through
Columbus back in twenty thirteen. SoI moved here officially. I am a
(01:53):
local resident now I live in MinervaPark, just Southwesterville. I moved here
in mark of twenty twenty. Soit's kind of a full circle myself of
having gotten to do the show herein Columbus and then moving here to be
closer to my family. So cool, Oh my gosh, that is awesome.
So Valley does Valley? Isn't thisfor Mother's Day weekend? Which is
(02:15):
so appropriate? Tell us a littlebit about what people will be seeing at
the show. Yes, so it'sMother's Day weekend, Saturday, May eleventh,
and once again, the show runsabout in our fifteen but we have
Pasha. I want to say,it's sixteen different hit songs of Frankie Valley
in the Four Seasons, So wecover a lot of material that is in
(02:37):
the show of Jersey Boys. ButRick Burnetto is phenomenal. If you haven't
gotten a chance to go over tothe Valley Dale to see them play every
Friday night, him and his bandis they are unstoppable. So you not
only get to hear them rock outon all of this music, but Rick
personally wrote all of the arrangements forall of these songs, so they really
(03:00):
you are, you know, payinghomage to the original tunes with a new
flare that Rick has brought to it. So I mean, this big band,
this seventeen piece orchestra, you getto sit right up close and just
hear them jam out while I'm singingalong with them. I have three other
singers, backup singers that lend tosome of those really famous harmonies that the
(03:24):
Four Seasons had. So yeah, you really get you really get the best
of all worlds with this show. For sure. Did Frankie Valley Nick do
beauty school dropout in Great? Idon't believe No, that's Frankie Avalon.
Yeah, you're right, Okay,it was a different Frankie, But you
(03:46):
kind of had a lot of Frankie. There's a lot of famous frankiees to
be fair. Yeah, beach blanketBingo helps out Nick. Oh god,
I think so you put me onthe spot. Now here's what I will
tell you. Frankie Valley is eightynine years old, right, That's what
(04:11):
I'm looking at on Wikipedia and FrankieAvalon is any threes in the same kind
of Yeah, totally. I Meanthe the amazing thing about Frankie himself is
you know he is still out thereperforming loves Yeah, I mean, he
still loves what he does. WhenI was touring with the show, he
(04:33):
actually was performing in Chicago when wewere there at the same time, and
I got to see him and meethim backstage after the show while I was
still doing Jersey Boys. I mean, he's He's incredible. So if anything,
you know, all of us thathave been a part of the musical
Jersey Boys and all of these memberswho do tribute concerts to him and to
(04:54):
the rest of the band members,I mean we we would be nowhere without
these originals who trail blaze and ledthe way for us to be able to
sing these amazing hits for you all. No that's a great point. And
if you think about it, mygoodness, there are so many tribute bands
out there because they just want tokeep artists like Frankie alive and so many
(05:15):
different beatles, you know, somany different longtime legendary musicians. That's why
they have a lot of these tributebands out there, because there was such
a love and passion for these artists. So good for you. We're gonna
start giving away tickets. So wehave eight different tickets to give away.
So basically, four pairs call usup right now. It's six one four
eight two one nine eight eighty sixsix one four eight two one nine eight
(05:41):
eighty six, and we'll just takethe first four callers and we'll give away
those tickets. So you think that'sgonna be the easiest way. I think
that's a great idea. And whata perfect setting to have this at valley
Dale. Talk a little bit aboutthat. Yeah, I mean this space
if you haven't been there before,it it's a very large setting that they
they have this huge dance floor thatsometimes they do ballroom dancing there. That's
(06:04):
why they call it the ballroom. But literally people people even during our show,
get up out of their seats andstart dancing along in the back.
I mean because once again, thismusic, because of its timelessness, everyone
knows these songs and everyone has arelationship to these songs in some way.
(06:25):
You know, can't take my eyesoff you, you know, whether that's
a song that was played at yourwedding or you know, everyone has their
own their own love for this musicthat gets to be translated in this space.
They have a ground floor that's justa little bit below the stage,
(06:46):
and then they have seating also upas well, up in like a U
shaped balcony. That is another greatbut there's really not a bad seat in
the house. Your right, Nick. I don't know if you know this
or not, but I got Marriorthere twenty five years ago. Just had
my anniversary, just had my anniversaryparty back at Valley Dale, so it
(07:06):
was awesome. Well, I wishyou were in studio because you could see
our phone lines are lighting up crazy. There's such an interest for this show.
We're only gonna take one caller andthen we'll let Hannah get the emails
for the rest of them. ButDoug, you're on the line, can
you name us a favorite Frankie Valleysong that you think of Fayah, Yeah,
(07:28):
you're just too good to be true. Oh I know, I am.
But what's your what's your favorite? And she knows that too. You're
just too good to be true? Can't take my off thing? We are
not performing exactly? Well, guesswhat, Doug, you're one of the
winners. We're gonna get three otheremails. But you're gonna go to the
show. Do you know who you'regonna bring? Oh yeah, I'm gonna
(07:50):
bring my lovely my wife. Ohso cool. Such a nice, nice
night out to be able to godo this. Well, stay on the
line. Hanna's gonna be your information. Thanks for listening, and thanks for
calling, Doug, and we willdo that. The phone lines are lighting
up. Will get four tickets outand gone. And I'm so excited to
get to go to the Valley Deale. Nick. Thanks, anything else you
want our listeners to know about youor about the show? I have a
(08:13):
question, actually, Nick, whatare you doing next after this show?
Like? What are you up toin Columbus now that you've moved here?
But have this like great theatrical andmusic background? Good question? Yeah,
so, I you know, I'mkind of all over the city. At
this point, I teach down atthe Columbus Children's Theater. It brings me
a lot of joy to be workingwith not only kids, but also young
(08:35):
adults who are interested in the fieldof musical theater and also just in general
in all genres of music. It'sa way that has always felt really good
about giving back and and onto thenext generation who wants to be performers.
I think for a few churches inColumbus, so I think for weddings and
(08:56):
other private events, and then yeah, I have just a big concert series
that I do. I released myfirst Christmas album this Christmas Home for Christmas,
