Well, what we need is morecommon sense, common breaking down the world's
nonsense about how American common sense. We'll see us through with the common sense
of Houston. I'm just pro commonsense for Houston. From Houston Way dot
com. This is the Jimmy BarrettShow, brought to you by viewind dot

(00:28):
com. Now here's Jimmy Barrett.Hey, it's Friday. But what a
Friday? How's everything in your house? Is everything okay? Man? I
hope? So. I don't knowwhat happened to your house yesterday. I
saw some amazing things yesterday. I'mnot you know, I live very close
to the Woodlands technically Spring, butit's really closer to the Woodlands, about

(00:49):
a mile and a half south ofthe you know, the official beginning of
the Woodlands. And we had Icould best describe it to you, I
think as a ninety minute hurricane. You know, you had you had the
crazy winds, or at least aninety been a tropical storm. Because you
had the crazy winds like everybody seemedto have. That was the big thing

(01:11):
from yesterday's storm. They caused somany problems. You had the crazy winds,
you had the rain coming down sidewaysand when it wasn't coming down sideways,
it was accumulating like crazy. Idon't know how many inches of rain
we got at my house in thatninety minutes. I'd be shocked if it
wasn't at least two or three.I have a pretty pretty good drainage system
in my yard, and I stillhad spots of the yard that don't normally

(01:34):
have standing water had standing water atleast for a little while after that.
That that storm rolled through yesterday andmy dog, my dog, my dog,
Swiper, he wants to go out, and he, first of all,
he scared the death of storms.I don't know he didn't, he
wasn't always that way. I don'tknow what happened. The only thing I
can figure that might have happened iswhen we go on vacation, we bored

(01:56):
him at best Friends in the Woodlands, you know, which is a you
know, they do a little likea day camp for for dogs, and
they they also board dogs and thattype of thing. The only thing I
can figure is that there was astorm that rolled through one of the times
he's been boarded there, and therewas nobody there to be with him,
and they probably scared the death outof him because now when when, when,

(02:17):
even when it starts raining hard,I mean he will, he will
find me wherever I am and hewill just you know, he he is
like stuck to my side. Buthe decides, you know, in the
middle of this thing that I couldtell he's got to go pee and I'm
going swiper. It's it's you know, there's there's standing water on the patio

(02:37):
out there, that the rains comingdown sideways. There's a stun thunderstorm going
on. We can't go out there, and and he's like, I gotta
go dead, I gotta go,he said. He dogs like this swiper
and he's gotta go. So Itried to get him to go in the
garage and go on a peepee pad, right, won't do it. So
I finally I grabbed this little tinyumbrella and we go out there and he

(02:58):
and he had to be for quitea while, so he really really had
to go. But you know that'sonly inconvenience I had during this whole thing
yesterday. And I want to givea little shout out to those of you
who are dealing with a whole lotmore of Eddie Martini, who is the
general manager of all of our iHeartStations here in Houston sent a picture round

(03:19):
of Catherine Catherine A. Dappaval's home. She's one of our salespeople on KTRH
and the whole front of her upperstory's gone, sheered off by a tree
that came down. It looks likesomebody took a saw and saw the thing
off. There's trees down all overthe place. There's branches down and all

(03:40):
over the place. People are comparingthe damage to like after Ike and some
of the other hurricanes that we've had. That's why I described it like a
ninety minute hurricane. And if yousaw the image at all, it was
really an amazing image. We hadthe fire Chief Sampaigna on our morning show
today in KTRH, and you know, I just praised to him and his

(04:02):
staff for all they were doing tohelp out motorists yesterday. Because a KPRC
two crew managed to get stuck outthere in two ninety right after they had
to shut down the traffic, apower station crumbled like it was a tinker
toy, just crumbled. Power linecame down over to ninety and there was
no live power line. There's noplace for anybody to go. They're stuck

(04:27):
there, not to mention it's adangerous situation. So there's a lot of
folks that are going to be cleaningup here over the course of this weekend.
And if you're one of those who'scleaning up, you know, I
know you have my You don't justhave my sympathy, you have my empathy.
You know, we got very luckyat our house. You know,
I try to be very careful totake care of our trees. I don't
have any really really big trees bythe house, so there's nothing there that

(04:48):
can fall into the house when weget these kinds of situations. So I'm
very lucky we didn't have any anyreal problems from this, but I know
a lot of you did. Soyou know, again thoughts and prayers and
all that with all of our listenersare dealing with that. Oh here's the
other thing, and this is thepart, This is the part that's always
the most frustrating part after a bigstorm, and that is when the electricity

(05:13):
is out and you don't have agenerator, and you know, you find
out that it might not be justa matter of hours or a matter of
days, it might be a matterof weeks before you're get your power back,
and some folks are in that situation. You know, we had extensive
damage. When you have to rebuilda power station and restring power lines,

(05:33):
that's a that's not a twenty fourto forty eight to seventy two hour thing.
That's a multi week process. Sothere are some folks that probably are
not going to have power for threeweeks. And I'm sorry, but that's
we're stuck in that situation. Bythe way, I don't do this very
often. I used to do this, so this should be a feature used
to do on my show all thetime. Winners and losers. I'm not

(05:54):
going to proclaim any losers, butI think the winners of the day are
pretty simply this. If you youare a generator salesperson or if you're a
shop that sells generators and you're wellstocked with generators, it's the easiest thing
in the world to sell after stormlike yesterday, So congratulations, you're gonna
make some money. If you area roofer, if you're in the roofing

(06:15):
industry, you know, with thosestraight line wins, you know a lot
of roofs got compromises today, you'regonna be so busy, you won't know
what to do. By the way, if you want a personal recommendation on
a roofer, I'm going to recommendBrinkman b RI I N K M A
N N. I do endorse themon KTRH, but I've had a lot
of experience with them, and they'rea family will owned and operate a business,

(06:38):
been around for for fifty years. The thing I love about them is
they don't make promises they can't keepnumber one and number two. They don't
try to sell your roof if there'snothing wrong with your roof just because you
sprung a leaf. Maybe it's becauseyou lost a couple of shingles. Maybe
you just need to replace a coupleof shingles versus replacing the whole roof.
And I don't feel confident that allcompanies work that way, because they all

(07:00):
try to play the insurance card, and they know, you know, anybody
who's in your neighborhood, you know, stuffing flyers in your mailbox or staking
business cards you're in your door.I'd be a little bit lury of them.
I call at least make one ofthe people you call Brickman, because
I think they'll treat you right,You're stick around in business for over fifty
years if you don't treat people right. So we got roofers or winners,

(07:23):
generator salespeople are winners. Who elseshould make the list here? We'll have
to add a few as we continueon the day. We're gonna take a
quick little break back with borne momentJimmy Barrett Show here on AM nine fifty
k PRC. All right, I'mgonna talk a little bit about the testimony

(07:51):
for Michael Cohen yesterday. Now we'veyou know, taking care of some of
our storm business. Here, Let'stalk a little bit about this because something
happen and you might not have heardabout it because you don't have power and
you didn't see it Hunt TV,or you didn't hear the segment we did
on it on the morning show todayin KTRH, or you're just too preoccupied
in dealing with the aftermass of thestorm, and certainly everybody understands that,

(08:16):
so you might have missed it,and I think it's worth sharing with you.
Michael Cohen, you know, aconvicted perjurer and the star witness sad
As that is the star witness forthe prosecution of Donald Trump in New York
of the so called hush money trial. Not what it was, but okay,
the so called hush money trial. He got caught in a lie yesterday,

(08:41):
and it tripped him up, andit got the jurors attention, I
mean, really got their attention, and even got the mainstream media's attention.
We'll get to the mainstream media herein just a second. So what happened.
I'll give it to a nutshell andthen let Jeddine Piro, because obviously
she's a former judge and she's gota lot of legal expertise. I let

(09:01):
her explain a little bit further. But in a nutshell, Cohen got caught
in the fact that he had givenas his main proof by the way that
Donald Trump knew that this was apayoff to Stormy Daniels. Is he made
a claim on a specific date andon a specific time, he had called

(09:24):
President Trump to inform him that thepayoff had been made to Stormy Daniels.
What it was. However, thephone call at the day and time he
said it made a phone call tothe president. He actually made that phone
call to a member of the President'sSecret Service staff, and it was not

(09:45):
about Stormy Daniels. It was aboutsome fourteen year old kid evidently who was
harassing him on the phone and prankinghim. And I guess he wanted to
know from the Sacred Service agent whathe could do about it or what he
should do about it. And theyhad a conversation that lasted a minute and
a half, had nothing to dowith Trump and nothing to do with Stormy
Daniels. And he got caught inthat, and they got everybody's attention because

(10:09):
that was the main evidence that hehad to back up that Trump knew that
there was a payment going on toStormy Daniels. Anyway, here's Jane Piro.
She gets into it a little bitmore detail. It is very significant.
And my source in the courtroom said, the jurors actually, and up
to this point they've been very kindof nonchalant about everything, they actually looked

(10:31):
at each other. It was ahuge moment. The reason it's huge is
because Michael Cohen is the lynchpin ofthis case. He has to be believed
in virtually everything he says in orderfor there to be a conviction. And
don't get me wrong, if thereis a conviction, it will be reversed.
There's so much reversible error here, but it's it is a call log

(10:52):
that is very clear that a callwas made from Michael Cohen to Keith Schiller.
Now apparently they didn't have the informationthat the defense has or they didn't
give it to Michael Cohen where therewere text messages. Michael Cohen is complaining
to Donald Trump's bodyguard, saying,I'm getting harassed by this fourteen year old

(11:13):
kid, and so Schiller says tohim, call me at exactly that time.
So Cohen calls Schiller. As aresult of that conversation, which is
a minute in thirty six seconds, then Schiller says, text me the number.
Okay, that minute in thirty sixseconds. Cohen has already testified was

(11:33):
when he told Donald Trump that theStormy Daniels deal was done. He clearly
is not about that, because youcan't change a call log and the text
messages that interlace that are very clearthey're talking about this fourteen year old.
And also you would have to believethat they talked about the fourteen year old.

(11:54):
This is what they're going to tryto do and redirect. On Monday,
they talked about the fourteen year old. And then Cohen said, I
need to speak to the boss, and Suller says, well, let me
see if the boss is there oris the boss here, he'd have to
put the There's not enough time,Dana, not enough time, Not in
a minute thirty six seconds, Noway. So we got caught in a

(12:16):
lie, which is no surprise. Now, the other thing you might want
to know about it is the mainstreamI mentioned this a little bit, the
mainstream reaction to it. This cutI have for you. You get the
reaction of the mainstream media. CNNis who reacts to this, and CNN
it was like a uh oh kindof moment, so CNN's reaction. But

(12:41):
we have more than just the reactionof CNN. Also, the jury got
a chance to hear yesterday what motivatesMichael Cohen, And it's not about justice,
it's about revenge. They played forthe jury a clip from his one
of his podcasts recently where he admitsit's about revenge. So take a listen

(13:01):
to both of those. Michael Cohenwas cornered in what appeared to be a
lie. I don't think I've everseen a star cooperating witness get his knees
chopped out quite as clearly and dramaticallyas what just happened with Michael Collin up.
This does seem pretty bad. Though, this does seem I feel like
there are a lot of questions thathave been raised. I think if I

(13:24):
was a juror in this case watchingthat, I would think this guy's making
this up as he's going along.Donald Trump called it fascinating. I think
this is a very interesting day. He's fascinating day, and it shows what
I scam. This whole thing is, I'm spending a lot of time and
I'm spending a lot of money, which is what they want. They want

(13:45):
me to spend my time and mymoney, and I'm willing to do it
because ultimately, we have to fightfor the Constitution. The entire testimony was
a disaster. Trump's lawyer played forthe jury. Michael Cohen's sounding like a
lunatic on his podcast. Very differentMichael Cohen from what the jury had seen
inside of court. I truly hopethat this man dands up in prison.

(14:07):
It won't bring back the year thatI lost or the damage done to my
family, but revenge is a dishbest served cold, and you better believe
I want this man to go downand rottenside for what he did to me
and my family. He is aboutto get a taste of what I went
through, and I promise you it'snot fun. There you go. Yeah,

(14:28):
a little different than the guardroom demeanorthat he's been trying to project to
the jury. Right. You know, no lawyer generally comes across as a
nice guy. He's been trying realhard to play the victim here, and
you know, you never know howeffective that is whether people buy into the
idea you're a victim or not,you know, a victim of in this
case, a victim of Donald Trump, or is he just a victim of

(14:52):
a victim of circumstances, a victimof his own making. So the redirect
will be on on Monday. That'llbe the next thing. There's there's nothing
going on in the courtroom for PresidentTrump today. Let's let's move on to
this because this is worth sharing withyou too. I don't know if I
watch when I watch news outside oflocal news. When I watch news,

(15:15):
I watch it on Fox. Ican't you know, can't stand CNN,
can't stand MSNBC. I'm not realbig fan of news. Newsmax is okay,
I mean I have no problem withthe content, and just you know,
I don't feel like I'm you know, getting anything on Newsmax that I
don't already get on Fox and Iand I sometimes I'll watch Fox Business even
more than I'll I'll watch on theregular Fox News channel because you know,

(15:37):
to me, they're more about theeconomy and those types of thing. They're
political, obviously, but they're moreabout about the economy and what's going on
with that. But here's the waythat both got combined. Yesterday Neil Cavudo,
you know who ne Eel is.He he always strikes me as being
like a never Trumper. He's alwaysvery negative about Trump. But he had
Jared Bernstein on, who's Biden's nationaleconomic advisor, and they were talking about

(16:04):
the claim that Biden always seems tomake about inflation. Yeah, I was
nine percent when I took over. No, it wasn't there's one point whatever.
It wasn't nine percent when you whenyou assumed the presidency. You turned
it into nine percent fairly quickly, but it wasn't nine percent. So Neil
Cavudo had enough of the of thedeal. So Jared Bersley's trying real hard

(16:26):
to you know, change the subjector to explain what Biden really meant by
what he said, and Neil Cavodowasn't having any of it, none of
it. Let's take a listen tothat exchange. We have dramatically reduced inflation
from nine percent down so close tothree percent. We're in a situation where
we're a better situation than we werewhen we took office. It was nine

(16:48):
percent when I came to office, nine percent, but it didn't look People
have a right to be concerned.I think inflation has gone slightly up,
as was at nine percent when Icame in, and it is now down
about three percent. Jared, whydoes he keep saying that you're his top
economic you're the head of the Councilof Economic Advisors. Do you ever whispering?
Is your? Mister President? Justto be technical about it, it

(17:11):
wasn't nine percent when you assumed office. It was one point four percent.
It got his high as nine percentin twenty twenty two. You brought it
down from that, but it wasnever ever, ever nine percent. Well,
first of all, let me pointout that in that very quote you
played, the President talked about howconcerned he was for households struggling with prices
that he consistently It's not what Iasked that's not what I asked you to

(17:33):
see. He misrepresenting this. He'smaking the point that the factors that caused
inflation to climb to nine percent werein place when he took off, and
that was not what he said.He said it was at nine percent,
it would eventually get to nine percenta little over a year after that,
But the fact of the matter isit wasn't nine percent. So if I
can't trust him quoting data in realtime, why should I believe what he's

(17:59):
talking about now. So the annualgrowth in core inflation in the second quarter
of twenty one was, in factabout nine percent, and his point about
inflation down sixty percent off its seek, it's very much the case. So
it was, and it was good. It was not at that. So
you're you're almost as bad as heis. Why can't you just say it
was high, god as high asnine percent. You'd be accurate in saying

(18:22):
that, And we have now broughtit down and we're struggling in around the
three percent area, but it's betterthan it was. But instead hanging on
his credity to hang it on hispredecessor that you inherited something that was through
the roof when we were in themiddle of COVID. It just seems to
the America people when you were playinga democrat, hold lying, you're just
lying. You're a liar. NeilKfudo, I mean, he's pretty easy

(18:45):
going in like I said, prettymuch a never trumper, So you don't
expect him to say that. Atleast I didn't expect him to say that
was pretty awesome. All right,we're gonna take a quick little break.
We're back with Born in the moment, Jimmy Bart Show. You're an AM
nine to fifty k PRC. Stillgoing at it on a Friday again.

(19:19):
You know, as I mentioned atthe beginning of the programming here, if
you're dealing with storm damage, hearthearts and hearts and souls and prayers and
whatever are with you right now, because we've all been through that at some
point in time in our life, haven't we. Absolutely you know what I'm
really worried about. And this isfrom a guy who didn't sustain any damage,
but I know what's going to happenwith my insurance policy comes up for

(19:40):
renewal. One of two things myhome insurance, my Home Wonder policy one
of two things, because I'm notgoing to have a claim, but one
of two things is going to happen. Either my insurance company will seriously consider
dropping me because I live in suburbanHouston, or they're going to make a
proposal for an insurance rate that isgoing to be just astronomically higher than the

(20:03):
astronomically high price I'm already paying. And we still have hurricane season to go.
Can you imagine if we get hitby hurricane or warship get hit by
more than one hurricane, We'll bein the same situation next year that Florida's
in now, where insurance is eitherunaffordable or unattainable. That's what's got me
worried. All Right, I'm goingto share. I really like the vec

(20:29):
Ramaswami, and it's it. Youknow, it's not just necessarily based on
as a person. I just thinkhe's he's smart as a whip. He's
super smart, and he sees what'sgoing on. He sees what's going on.
And when I first saw this,I didn't remember who we were talking
about there for a second. WhenI saw the vic ramas Swami was saying
about the presidential debates that it isa set up. I thought he was

(20:53):
talking about it being a setup toget Donald Trump, because, after all,
the debates are going to be onCNN and on ABC, neither of
which is the least bit friendly towardsPresident Trump. So you know, they're
gonna do their level best to giveBiden everything he needs to try to be
successful. You know, they'll probablyjust just like we saw with the Clinton

(21:15):
campaign in twenty sixteen, they'll probablygive the president's people the questions up front
so they have time to prepare andrehearse an answer. They'll probably make sure
they give him his Vitamin B twelveshots or whatever it is that they're doing
to make him look as good asthey can possibly make him look. And
you know, they will set himup for success as best they can.

(21:38):
And you know, maybe the attemptwill be to try to make sure he
wins the debate, and that ifif Biden wins the debate, then maybe
that'll be enough to turn the timewwhat Donald Trump is doing. You know,
that's what I assume he meant bya setup, but he took it
a step further than that. Sohere's the VEC Ramaswami with his thoughts of
why he thinks this bit's a bigsetup. I believe it is a setup,

(22:02):
Laura. And here's how it's working. Why did Biden pull this one
to eighty all of a sudden andwhy did the Democrats let him do it.
Let's put together some facts here.On one hand, CNN is hosting
it. They're going to prop upBiden, try to make him look as
good as possible. But also notethis is the earliest ever presidential debate in
recorded American history in June. Whyis that this is a hail mary attempt
for Biden? As his numbers aretanking, this is their last chance to

(22:26):
give him a desperate attempt to succeed, and if he doesn't, as I
expect, will be the case, that gives them enough time to swap out
somebody else for the nomination. That'swhat's going on. Set him up for
the best possible look you can givehim. It's not a neutral forum.
It's CNN do the one eight ashe's tanking, But if he fails,
they have enough time to prop upa new puppet. That's what I think

(22:47):
is going on. I think it'sgoing to be an extraordinary way for him
to go out in style. Ido not think that even with that tipped
hand moderator, I would have said, pick a left of center network and
rite of center network to do ittogether. But you're gonna have a left
of center networks CNN doing it.They're going to try their best to make
Biden look good. I think they'regonna fail, and they're gonna fail miserably,
and after that comes the red carpetfor whoever substitutes Biden after that.
So his theory is this is nota setup against Trump as much as it

(23:12):
is a setup for Biden that youeither outperform and turn the tide on this
thing, or if you don't,and you probably can't, you set it
up so that we have time tofind somebody to ride to the rescue here
to get the nomination to someone else. Now the question, because I happen

(23:34):
to think that's exactly why they proposedJune. Now, I don't know if
Biden understands that probably doesn't, nordo I, nor do I know how
they would go ahead and do this, because it seems pretty clear that the
Bidens have no interest in cooperating withnot running again for president. Of the
United States. I don't know, what do you do to get rid of

(23:57):
the guy? I mean, howfar would you have to go to get
rid of him? Can he betalked into not running, you know,
based on a poor performance? Couldhe be talked into not running? Or
would they have to I don't know. The risk is sounding like a conspiracy
theorist. Would they have to finda way to uh incapacitate him. They're

(24:22):
they're going to do whatever they canto win the election, so you have
to think that they're not going toleave him in there if they don't think
he has a prayer, but theyhave to come up with a way to
get rid of him, you knowthat would that would be sympathetic, you
know, unless, of course, something were to happen to him, he
strokes out or something else happens tohim, because he is in advanced age

(24:45):
and he does have, you know, physical limitations. I don't know.
I don't know that that part, that part remains to be seen. I
guess that that's going to be reallyinteresting to see how they managed to work
that whole thing out. All right, do I have time for one more
thing? Yeah, let's do onemore thing on the economy because we were
shared with you a little bit earlierabout you know, Neil Cavudo calling out

(25:11):
Jared Bernstein, you for lying aboutthe inflation rate. Let's take a look
here at just how you know theinflation claims is being reacted to by other
people. Texas Republican Representative Jody Erringtonand Art Laffer, who's an economists,
goes all the way back to theReagan years. Here they are talking about
the Biden economy. They obviously hadto borrow from Trump's economic successes to mitigate

(25:36):
the profligate spending and the failed economicpolicies of President Biden and my Democratic colonies.
That's what they did. That's whythey had to dip into the years
where you had high wage growth, you had low inflation, you had a
good economy. And then you justdescribed the disastrous economy under this current president
where the American people are paying almosttwenty percent more for this cential goods and

(26:00):
services seventeen thousand dollars on average ayear. Which is why Larry and you
know, all reports and studies andsurveys aside the American people and the consumer
confidence in that show a lower confidencethan we've seen since COVID, since all
the shutdowns and the mandates and thedepressed economy and society of COVID. Let

(26:22):
me just add to what you said, which I think is really important,
as there's not been one single monthunder Biden inflation, the year over year
inflation, not one single month thatis lower than every single month of Trump.
Not one month were they lower thanthe I mean, that's really powerful.
The other thing is and just forthe record, this latest one that

(26:44):
was quote unquote not so hot.The reason it wasn't hot wasn't because of
the month one month number. Theone month number was hot, but the
number dropped off twelve months ago withvery hotter. So it looked like the
rate of inflation was dropping, butit wasn't dropping because of the current.
It was dropping because of a LAXI. So next month you'll see a much
smaller number dropped off. And mybad is you'll see a slight uptick in

(27:08):
the rate of inflation. Then okay. And if ice is gonna hit everybody
who has to do some storm damagework too, right, by the way,
add two more winners to the listfrom the storm people who do tree
removal. Yeah, they're gonna makesome money and home remodelers to fix all
the damage. Listen, I hopeyou're doing okay, have yourself a great
weekend. I'll see you Monday morning, bright and early, five AM on

(27:30):
News Radio seven forty k r H. We'll be back Monday four here on
AM nine fifty KPRC.
