The Morning Breeze, Morning Breeze onDemand. It's Selena in six oh eight.
It is the Morning Breeze. GoodMorning, Happy Friday, May seventeen,
twenty twenty four, It's Carolyn andCourt on this Bike to Work Day
National Bike to Work also National Biketo School Day. Oh good. Oh.

(00:22):
Do you remember being a kid?Did you ride your bike to school?
I don't. I never did.I don't know why because I always
walked to school. I never gotto ride a bus ever. No bike.
I know. I'm sad. Ohyou said bus. That's why I'm
just saying. I never got totake a bus. So we just always
walked, and I always had abike, but for some reason, I
never rode the bike to school.Yeah, we weren't allowed to ride our
bikes, but all the other kidsdid. I was always so jealous of

(00:45):
that. And I we walked. But man, there was one day my
mom let me ride my bike.I think the entire night before I spent
time cleaning my bike, shining itbecause it was going to look good in
that bike rack, right, andit did. It did wow, So
the point that I still remember itall these years later. So I guess
the good point here is that beaware there might be more bikes on the

(01:07):
roads today, people heading to workand to school. Yes. And one
of the things that I love somuch about bike to workday here in the
Bay Area is if you do rideyour bike and you take one of our
many trails, like there's the ContraCosta Regional Trail, there's the Iron Horse
Trailer. There are trails all overthe Bay Area. Right There are a
lot of organizations that come out andhand out snacks so you can stop and
get a little refresher. A longway I ride my bike into workday because

(01:30):
you live one block from this office, I still would have done it.
And there's a taco bell on theway. I could have got a snack.
Oh, now we're talking brito inone hand, Yeah, gogurt,
I gotta have one hand to holdthe handlebars, all right. Coming up
this morning on the show, wehave another chance for you to win those
tickets to go see Janet Jackson Junetwelfth. She will be at the Chase

(01:53):
Center here in San Francisco. That'scoming up really soon, in just a
few weeks, so eight twenty five, it's your chance to win those tickets
here on the Breeze and on theway six twenty five, The Morning Breeze
brain teas all right, laid onme, all right. Only fifteen percent
of American companies offer this benefit.Fifteen percent of companies own this benefit,

(02:13):
offer this benefit for it, buteighty percent of their employees say they love
it. Ooh, so it's wildlypopular. Okay, if you think you
know the answer eight seven seven nineeighty one oh nine eight one, and
Court will give us that answer atsix twenty five. This morning, right
here on the breeze. Louise theRighteous Brother is at six twenty six.

(02:36):
It is the Morning Breeze with Carolynand Court, Happy Friday morning, every
weekday morning. Right around this timesix twenty five, and again at eight
forty, we bring you the MorningBreeze brain Tease. Only fifteen percent of
American companies offer this benefit, andeighty percent of their employees say they love
it. We're at eight seven sevennine eight one oh nine eight one.

(02:59):
Rachel in San Jose, what doyou think it is? Okay? Mileage
for driving into work every day?Yeah, that makes sense. I would
love it if more employers offered mileageas a benefit, But that is not
the answer roum it in livermore. What do you think the answer is?
I would say, is it threemeals from your work? That would be

(03:22):
amazing. We get the occasional freemeal here at the breeze once in a
great while. Yeah, but yeahevery day. Do you get free meals
where you work? Rom it?I sure don't. But I hear people
working at like Facebook and some ofthese companies like Google, they're getting like
free meals of work. They takejobs for those meals, right, yes,
I think so. I don't thinkthey want them to leave work,

(03:44):
right exactly. They just they couldlive there, they could do their dry
cleaning there, they could work outthere, they could get it there.
That's where they do it. Theyhave nap pods, that is why they
do it. Yes, keep themat work, that's a life yeah right?
Or is it? Yeah, that'sactually true? Right? Yeah.
Again, the question is fifteen percentof American companies offer this benefit, and
eighty percent of their employees love it. So what is the answer. Pet

(04:09):
health insurance? Oh, insurance, health insurance for your pet. Yes,
it's important because I just spent threethousand on my cat like a year ago,
and you know, I understand Itotally understand. You know, it's
your animal. It's like family.Right. Do you like your job rom
it? Oh yes, I lovemy job. I'm a shipping manager.

(04:30):
I work for a shipping company.Okay, Otherwise, we were going to
try and find you another job wherethey have pet insurance pet insurance for your
cat, don't. We don't knowwhere those jobs are, but we'll do
our research. Yeah, we needthem to Thank you guys so much.
I love you guys. Oh,we love you. Have a good day.
I sure will thanks again. Okay, love participating. It was fun.
Okay bye. I know a lotof people where the health insurance for

(04:53):
pets would be a huge appeal. No, it's be a big deal deal.
It's a big deal. We loveour pets. I think almost all
of us take great care of ourpets. We all know how expensive it
is, so that would be awonderful it would. Yeah. I've never
worked for a company that offers it, but I have worked for a couple
of companies that they help with petadoption. So if you're gonna adopt a

(05:15):
pet, like rescue a pet, they will help pay your fees. I
launch that which is not as greatas pet health insurance, you know,
but still that's important too as well. We're at eight seven seven nine one
O nine eight one again the MorningBreeze brain teas we do it every weekday
morning at six twenty five, andwe do it again at eight forty and
coming up this morning, eight twentyfive. Make sure you're here another chance

(05:36):
to win Janet Jackson concert tickets forher show at the Chase Center on June
twelfth, eight twenty five. Yourchance to win on the Morning Breeze.
It's om D on the Morning Breezewith Carolyn and Court. It's seven eight.
It's time for the Morning Breeze Personof the Weekend. As we mentioned
a couple of minutes ago, thisone is all about how one woman is

(05:57):
making a difference in the lives ofseven several women here in the Bay Area.
Jocelyn nominated Brianna in Fremont. Jocelyntell us about Brianna. Brianna organizes
and runs the Freemont Mom Walks group, and I met her last year when
she started the group. I foundher through I think Instagram or Facebook.
That's where she runs the group,I guess. And she organizes walks a

(06:20):
couple times a week and started itjust to try to get to know,
you know, other moms in thearea. I'm the first time mom.
I'm also new to the area.I moved here in twenty twenty, and
it's just been really hard to findother moms. It's just been nice to
meet other moms, talk about thingswith the kids, you know, postpartum

(06:40):
things, all sorts of mom relatedand other things going on in our life,
and a nice break from our dayto day. I cannot stress the
importance of these mom groups. Whenmy daughters were younger, my wife was
in the same boat. We werein a city, she didn't know very
many people. She joined a momgroup similar to this, and the women
she met there are still some ofher best friends today and this is going

(07:03):
on twenty years now. I lovethat. Oh that's awesome to hear something
to look forward to. Yeah, that's incredible. It's a lot of work,
and you know, she looks atall sorts of parks in the area.
I don't think I've been to thesame park twice with a mom walk.
And she also tries to get smallbusinesses, especially like mom owned small

(07:26):
businesses engaged in the walks and sowe can hear about how they started the
business and what they do and learnmore about them. So she really tries
to engage moms in different angles, which has been really fun. That is
so neat. Well, we definitelywant to talk to her. Do you
think you could conference her in withus? You could try? Okay,

(07:46):
we'll hang on. Okay, Ithink I looped everyone in. Is this
Brianna? Yes? Hi? Howare you? This is Carolyn and Court
from ninety eight point one to Breezethe Morning Breeze. Joslyn told me all
about you guys. I really appreciateyou, Jocelyn. Likewise, so,
Brianna, what was your motivation tostart the Fremont mom Walks group. I

(08:07):
am the first time mom my daughter, Kamila. She will be two in
October. But it was kind ofone of those things where I don't really
have friends my age that also havekids, and so in the back of
my mind it was if I don'thave friends, Gomila is not going to
have friends. So it's just thatsocialization that kids need. I really wanted

(08:33):
to help that, and I knowother moms were kind of in the same
boat. I was in a Facebookgroup with other moms and it was a
lot of Hey, let's get together, let's have play days, let's go
on a walk. But I noticedthat like nobody was really doing much their
taking initiatives. So I was letme be that person. Wow, way

(08:54):
to step up. Yeah, wewant to make you a little busier but
also relax at the same time.Good way. So, in addition to
becoming the Morning Breeze person of theweek, we're also gonna award you brunch
for two around the Bay on citycruises anchored by Hornblower. Oh, thank
you. I know, have youever done a Hornblower cruise? No?

(09:15):
No? And I want to actuallytake Jocelyn. That is so nice.
I think she's one of the momsthat I made the most connection with.
You guys, I mean, lookat this lifelong friendship you've created from your
group. This is amazing. Yeah. No, I'm really happy again.
Brianna, thank you for doing allyou do for the community. Thank you,

(09:37):
and Jocelyn, thank you for makingall of this happen. Oh of
course, yeah, thank you everything. Oh will you girls have a good
day? You too? Take carenow too. If there is somebody like
Brianna in your life, we wantto hear about them. Nominate them for
the Morning Breeze Person of the Weekon our website. Ninety eight Onethebreeze dot
com, It's the Morning Breeze withCarolyn and Core. Good Morning, Happy

(10:01):
Friday, seven twenty six. Thatis Madonna, Carolyn, I have figured
it out. I'm happy to haveyou. Ever walked into a store or
shopped somewhere regularly and you just don'tfeel comfortable there? Yes, like you
can't. You're you're just you don'tknow your way around. Don't you feel
like you don't You're not worthy ofthat even if you know your way around,
it just something just feels off forme. It's it's the grocery store

(10:24):
that it's closest to my house.I don't haven't liked shopping there, and
I can't quite I couldn't quite figureout why. Yes, I figured it
out yesterday. What is it?So? It's all about orientation. It
is scientifically proven when you walk intoa grocery store you want to go to
the right, which is why mostgrocery stores, when you walk in,
they shuffle you to the right.Huh, because we drive on the right

(10:48):
side of the road. If you'rewalking down the street, what side of
the street. Are you walking theright side? We like to go to
the right. We've been trained togo to the right. My grocery store,
you walk in, you have togo to the left. And I
don't like it. And it's startedwhat you're bringing to us right now.
Saturday morning, I bitched. Thereare so many people out there that go
to the store. It doesn't evenhave to be a grocery store. It

(11:09):
could be any store. If youare forced to go to your left,
you're instantly gonna kind of resist it. It's gonna throw your brain off.
And it's scientifically proven, by theway, and thinking about stores that's going
to I started thinking about because thisis when I realized it. I started
thinking about this store that I usedto shop at ten years ago. There
were two of them in my town. One of them you'd go to the
right, the other one you hadto go to the left. And even

(11:31):
though they were set up the exactsame way, they just everything was swapped.
It was reversed because he had togo to your left. I was
getting lost in there the entire time, even though I knew where everything was.
This is a real first world problemabout situation. Think well, listen,
I also trying to break down theCourt Johnson mind here. No.
Also, I wish there was acamera and here so people could see my

(11:54):
motions. Here Court's emotions. Heis really moving around a lot, trying
passionate right now. You walk intoa store, You walk into a store,
keep talking taking videos. When youwalk into that store, you want
to go to the right. Walkinto the store, you go to the
right, But stores oftentimes will sometimespush you to the left. I know
what you're saying, though I've beeninto several stores. You are correct,

(12:18):
it goes to the right, andI have it feels your good that if
we go to the left, itdoes left does not feel good emotions,
though I know there's so much passion. I know, and there are people
probably who work in retail who knowexactly what I'm talking about. Yeah.
No, I'm just trying to say, if you're in charge of these types
of things, make it easier forme. Okay, okay. Also,
I just took some video and it'sgoing to be on our Facebook page in

(12:41):
a matter of moments at ninety eightone of the breeze, so you can
see what this looks like behind thescenes. I'm not alone on this I
know. Of course, we're gonnahave people call and they're going to share
how they feel about going to theright in the grocery store wherever they go
and they walk in. Please makeme feel like I'm not a low It's
coming, Court, It's coming eightseven seven nine eight one o nine eight
one or I Heart video app.You can use that to send us a

(13:01):
message. And on the way thismorning, a chance to win more Janet
Jackson concert tickets. She's going tobe at the Chase Center June twelfth.
Hopefully when you walk into the ChaseCenter, they were usher Utah right Court
when you win these free tickets.Eight twenty five. Here on the Morning
Breeze, Shaday at seven forty two. Here on the Morning Breeze with Carolyn
and Court. Pretty exciting day herein the Bay Area. It's a very

(13:22):
exciting day. Today is the officialone hundredth anniversary of the Giant Dipper roller
coaster at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Yeah, this is the very famous
I was aware of this roller coaster. I've never I've driven through Santa Cruz,
but everybody knows that waterfront view,oh the water from view, and

(13:43):
that roller coasters wooden't Yeah, Okay, So one hundred years ago May seventeenth,
nineteen twenty four, was the firsttime somebody rode that roller coaster.
It took them forty seven days tobuild that thing, which is concerning.
But after one hundred years, I'mgoing to assume that the process has been
tested, did and then some andit's safe. I'd think about the fact

(14:03):
that it took forty seven days tobuild in nineteen twenty four, I would
assume because I'm familiar with you maynot know this about me, but I
love roller coasters. You do.I love wooden roller coasters. I grew
up. So I grew up inUtah, and there's a wooden roller coaster
there. I don't think it's asold as the one in Santa Cruz,
as the Giant Dipper. And hereare you ready for the name of this
one? Yeah, this is thename of the roller coaster in Utah.

(14:26):
The roller coaster great Well Beach Boardwalkwon the battle with the title. But
because it's wooden, they actually everyyear they replace a section of it,
and so over the course of howevermany years, that none of the wood
is the original wood. So Iwould assume the same has to go for
the Giant Dipper. Oh, I'msure they're constantly up, especially with the

(14:48):
Giant Dipper being on the waterfront thereis all that salt water. Wooden roller
coasters, to me are the scariestof the bunch because of the fact that
there was there wooded and the GiantDipper. While I know it's safe again
by the waterfront. The other onethat scares me is at California's Great America,

(15:09):
the Grizzly Oh. That's a woodenroller coaster. I remember riding that
thing when I was a kid,and you'd be on it and you could
see the apparatus. Will call itshaking right as a art. I know,
the thrill seekers like you and peoplethat love roller coasters, this is
their jam. All these roller coastershere and they're all safe. They have
sure you know, they are alwaysLike you said, they're replacing the wood

(15:31):
on them, So I'm not atall saying they're not safe something, but
it's what makes them scary. Yeah. There's something just magical though about when
that chain grabs the the coaster cartsand you start going up the hills and
the oak lines so great. It'sso scary roller coasters freak me out.
But we're really happy for Santa CruzBeach Boardwalk. They're doing a special celebration
by the way, at ten thirtythis morning at the park, doing a

(15:54):
little special ceremonies. Do you thinkI have time to get down there?
Totally? How are you going toget there? I don't know. You
don't have a bike to workday? You could ride your bikes here? Well,
there we go. Well, Isaw sixty eight million riders have got
on this over the course of onehundred years spent. None of them have
been named Court Johnson. So Igotta go. I need to do with
the research. Well, congratulations.Santa Cruz Beach Bardowack a wonderful place to

(16:17):
be, even if you're not ahuge roller coaster fan. You pull up
there and you just smell the food. It's just it's iconic, beautiful.
Oh we used to go there inthe summer. Go lay on the beach.
It's a great time. So havefun today. Get that ceremony at
ten thirty this morning. We're ateight seven seven nine, eight one oh
nine eight one. Maybe you've gota favorite roller coaster in the Bay Area.
You can reach out to us withour iHeartRadio app that talked back Mike

(16:38):
too. And coming up this morningeight twenty five, once again, another
chance to win Janet Jackson concert tickets. She's going to be at the Chase
Center June twelfth. We would loveto send you, yes, so be
here eight twenty five your chance towin on the Morning Breeze Plain White Teas.
Hey there, Delilah, it's eightoh eight. You've got the Morning
Breeze with Carolyn. You didn't likemy inflection, No, it's just it's

(16:59):
so core of you. It's verycore. Oh my gosh, something really
neat happened to me yesterday. Okay, it was scary at first, but
then it turned out to be reallygreat, just kind of reinstilling my faith
in humans and human kindness. Okay. I went to my bank the other
day, Patelcho Credit Union, andI was depositing a check. Well,
unbeknownst to me, I had putin the wrong pin and so well,

(17:25):
it's two part. I put inthe wrong pin and then I forgot to
wait for my card to be kickedback out. I'm a double I've done
this before, you have, Ohyeah, this is my first time doing
that. You're busy, your mind'selsewhere. You got a billion things going
on, yes, and you thinkyou yeah, you go in and you
just you forget put the check in, took the the ATM, took the
check. Yea, the card wasin there, and I thought, great,

(17:47):
I don't need a receipt. Iturn around and left. I'm done
with this process. I'm out ofhere. Then I took it up the
street to seize candies, got myselffour pounds of candy, not for myself,
but bought four pounds of candy andwent to pay for it and went,
oh, my gosh, I don'thow much. One of these where
you're like yeah a minute, panic, ye instant panic. I go back
to the bank. I figure, well, that is the last place I

(18:10):
was. Go back to the bank, and I see this woman and her
daughter who were align at the machinenext to me or in the room next
to me, and I said, hey, did you And the daughter says,
you left your card and your checkin the ATM. And I took
them and took them inside to thebranch, and I was like, oh

(18:32):
my gosh, a card and acheck in the machine checked it had been
and probably endorsed. I endorsed it, So anybody could have walked up taken
that and absolutely what a good humanbeing she was. So because I put
the wrong pin in, that's whyI kicked it all back out. I
didn't know and I was distracted,and that's how that went. But I
thought, I I just it wasa daughter, like I said, a

(18:55):
daughter and her mom. And Isaid to the mom, as this,
you know, before I knew theywere mother. Daughter says, it's your
daughter, she's dan. I said, you did a great job in raising
her, because how honest they bothwere to have done that, taken it
into the branch and left it.So I went in, had to show
my ID the woman in the room, like, you know they have the
little offices and banks for the big, big dealings. Yeah, yeah,

(19:15):
she was. I looked over,I saw my card and the check and
I was like, yep, that'sme there it is. But just such
nice people Patelco again, you know, I love my Pateelco Credit Union just
and the people that bank they aregreat people too. So I was just
so so grateful because that obviously couldhave been a totally different ending to that
story. And I can only imaginethe panic you had between the seas,

(19:36):
Candy, I know and tell youknew that that card was saved. Yes,
and by the way, that couldbe happiest part of the story.
I went back and got my seat. Candy. We just said to close
that out, that Sea's candy.Obviously it was not for me as well,
because I'm not seeing it. Candyin the studio, honey eight seven
seven nine, eight one nine eightone. Hey, stick around just a
few minutes eight twenty five this morningand next chance for you to win Janet
