Abol-Hassan Sabâ

Multi-instrumentalist Abol Hassan Saba played an important role in the evolution of Persia's music. A master of the violin and santur, a three-octave, wooden-hammered dulcimer, Saba was one of the first Persian musicians to approach the violin differently than the kamanche, a four-stringed, bowed, spike fiddle. His notations and publications were essential to the preservation of the traditional style of santur playing. ~ Craig Harris
