Dominican Alex Bueno began singing and playing guitar at a very young age. He moved from his native San José de las Matas to Santo Domingo when he was a teenager, looking for a better chance to get involved in show business. In 1979, the young artist joined Gerardo Vera's All-Stars, later recording a local hit called "Piel Canela" with Fernando Villalona.
