Biography

Among the leading American flutists, Amy Porter is also a prominent educator. She has given the premieres of various works and is the dedicatee of Michael Daugherty's flute concerto Trail of Tears. In addition to her teaching responsibilities at the University of Michigan, Porter founded the Anatomy of Sound website and has issued instructional videos. She has a substantial recording catalog that includes an appearance on conductor JoAnn Falletta's recording of Lukas Foss' Renaissance Concerto in 2024.
