Biography
Acclaimed around the world as one of the best interpreters of Frédéric Chopin, Arthur Moreira Lima also had success in the field of popular music. At nine, he won a solo contest promoted by the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira with a Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composition. He won the contest again in 1952, interpreting a Ludwig van Beethoven piece. In 1956 he won a Rádio MEC contest, winning a scholarship from the Brazilian government to study in Paris, France, with Marguerite Long.
