b. Arturo Núñez González, 4 October 1913, Cárdenas Provincia de Matanzas, Cuba, d. 27 February 1981, Mexico City, Mexico. From the age of eight Núñez studied music in Havana, graduating also in medicine. With the country in some disarray, he worked as a bit-part player in films before working as musical director for a visiting Chilean illusionist.
