Ashley Bathgate

Cellist Ashley Bathgate is a prominent performer of avant-garde music, both in ensembles and increasingly often as a solo player. She was a longtime member of the Bang on a Can All-Stars. Bathgate was born in Saratoga Springs, New York, in 1985, and as her solo career became better established, she returned to that area to live. She began cello lessons with Rudolf Doblin, former principal cellist of the Buffalo Philharmonic, and then at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs with Ann Alton.
