Born and raised in the forests of Pennsylvania, Atlantis Black didn't decide to step into the music industry until she first heard PJ Harvey. Fascinated by the British chanteuse's gothic indie rock and emotionally raw approach, Black made a stop in New Orleans before buying a guitar and heading out to Los Angeles. Writing for over a year in her apartment, she moved back to Pennsylvania to finish school before heading out to the East Coast.
