The Australian pop group Bachelor Girl formed in 1992 when songwriter/producer/keyboardist/vocalist James Roche met vocalist Tania Emilia Doko. Roche was creating a demo tape of a song he wrote for another group, Girlfriend. When his original singer canceled, he recruited Doko, which sparked a collaboration. The duo began writing and recording in search of a record deal; after Sony rejected them, Bachelor Girl found a home with Gotham Records in 1997.
