This multiple Grammy- and Latin Grammy-winning banda group was founded by Cruz Lizárraga in 1938 in the town of El Recodo (Sinaloa) and has played a fundamental role in the dissemination and innovation of the genre in Mexican Regional music throughout the world. They were the first banda group ever to be recorded -- though it wasn't until 1958, with their self-titled debut, when they had been together for 20 years -- and have released more than 200 albums.
