Inspired by American pop and alternative bands including Creed, U2, and Maroon 5, Beat the System is a rock band from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Founded by lead guitarist Stewart Sellan, core members came to also include his brother, drummer/songwriter Gerald Sellan, and songwriter Adrian Puan. Beginning in the mid-2000s, some of their singles were featured on a series of collections, including Disarseter Records' Panic in the Peninsula (2005), Malaysia Indestructible: Spirit of Freedom (2009), and Sony Music Malaysia's The Best of VIMA (2013).
