Working alongside his twin brother Joel, guitarist Benji Madden steadily climbed the modern rock charts with Good Charlotte, a Maryland-based pop-punk outfit that formed in 1996. Epic Records released the band's self-titled debut in 2000, and the Maddens soon found themselves hosting MTV's All Things Rock, a gig that increased their visibility and helped propel Good Charlotte's sophomore album, The Young and the Hopeless, into the forefront of modern rock.
