Boston indie quartet Bent Shapes first began releasing music in 2009 under the name Girlfriends. Led by singer/guitarist Ben Potrykus and drummer Andy Sadoway, their melodic and hyper-literate post-punk echoed classic East Coast bands like the Feelies and the Modern Lovers. After a handful of small indie releases and accolades for their ferocious gigs, they rebranded themselves as Bent Shapes in 2012 and released a compilation of their Girlfriends-era material called Cull Shorts.
