Espousing a punitive blend of grindcore, punk, and industrial metal, Blood from the Soul was founded in the early 1990s by Napalm Death's Shane Embury. Partnering with Sick of It All's Lou Koller, the band issued a debut album, To Spite the Gland That Breeds, in 1993. Blood from the Soul experienced a long period of stasis before re-emerging in 2020 with a new lineup and an ambitious sci-fi concept LP, DSM-5.
