Jazz trumpeter Bob Montgomery has received accolades for his musicianship as well as numerous awards for his educational leadership, which spans more than three decades. In 1970, he was honored as Teacher of the Year. During the early '80s, he earned the title of Kansas Jazz Educator & Performer of the Year. In 1990, he was the International Association of Jazz Educators' (IAJE) Colorado Jazz Educator of the Year. Montgomery held the office of president for the IAJE's Colorado and Kansas chapters.
