Brian Easdale

Brian Easdale is chiefly known for the second of 13 film scores composed for Michael Powell and Emmerich Pressberger between 1947 (Black Narcissus) and 1961 (The Queen's Guards) -- The Red Shoes of 1948, which won him an Academy Award. He briefly interrupted a 15-year retirement in 1978 for Return to the Edge of the World, a documentary about the remote Scottish isle of Foula, where Powell filmed a "life, love and death" drama 40 years earlier.
