Biography
New York-based composer Bunita Marcus held the Edgard Varèse Fellowship in Composition at SUNY Buffalo, where she received her PhD and was a student and protégé of Morton Feldman. She has received commissions from the Kronos Quartet, Bang on a Can All-Stars, Morton Feldman and Soloists, Aki Takahashi, and Tokyo's Sound-Space ARK ensemble, among others. She is active as a composer, conductor, writer, lecturer, teacher, and mentor. Among Marcus' best-known pieces are the chamber works Adam and Eve, The Rugmaker, Music for Japan, and the piano solo Julia.
