Buttercup

A Texas-based combo who play a sprawling, but approachable strain of jangling art rock, Buttercup first emerged out of San Antonio's vibrant music scene in the mid-2000s. Records like Sick Yellow Flower (2005) and Hot Love (2006) established them as tasteful eclectics with a knack for both melody and sidestepping the obvious path. During the next decade they remained more active than their catalog suggests, shelving an entire album before releasing 2017's punchy Battle of Flowers.
