Biography
Besides being one the most popular and enduring Brazilian forró groups to emerge since the 1990s, Calcinha Preta played a key role in the revamping of the regional genre into electronic forró, adding electric guitars, synths, and pop/rock elements into the mix. Founded in the northeastern town of Aracaju (Sergipe) in 1995 by manager and producer Gilton Andrade, the band released its first album, A Banda Do Forró Mais Gostosa Do Brasil, in 1996, showcasing vocalists Sidney Sanley and Luciana Linhares.
