A former member of Australian psych-rock band Pond and the touring bassist for Tame Impala, Cameron Avery's solo career went in a notably different musical direction. Inspired by the timeless romance of mid-20th century singers like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sarah Vaughan, and Etta James, Avery crafted witty, lushly arranged songs about falling in and out of love. Originally from Western Australia, Avery was the lead singer of the Growls and played drums for Abbe May before becoming Pond's drummer.
