As the group's name suggests, Camper Van Chadbourne was a collaboration between avant-garde musician Eugene Chadbourne and various members from Camper Van Beethoven. Bassist Victor Krummenacher and violinist/keyboardist/mandolin player Jonathan Segel were the most consistent members of the project along with Chadbourne, though Camper's vocalist David Lowery contributed to early gigs and albums like the 1987 self-titled debut.
