Carolina Eyck

Germany's Carolina Eyck is among the few young exponents of the theremin, the early electronic instrument patented by Léon Theremin (Lev Termen) in the Soviet Union in 1928. Eyck also plays violin and viola, and is the author of the first textbook devoted to the theremin. Carolina Eyck was born in the Berlin area on December 26, 1987. She is a member of the Sorbian minority group in eastern Germany, and there is a Sorbian form of her name, Carolina Eyckek. She took up the piano at five and switched to violin a year later.
