Fenay Cruz's son Charlie was born in Puerto Rico and raised in the U.S. At a young age, while living in New Jersey, Charlie Cruz was strongly influenced by salsa. Soon the enthusiastic teenager started participating as a vocalist in his father's band. Back in Puerto Rico, Charlie Cruz joined Domingo Quiñones' collective act in 1996.
