Uniquely fusing bluegrass with Latin traditions, Che Apalache are a string band based out of the Argentinian capital of Buenos Aires. Spearheaded by an American expat fiddler named Joe Troop, the group started out as more of a straightforward bluegrass unit, though by the time of their 2017 debut, they'd begun to incorporate a variety of unusual influences into their sound, from flamenco to Uruguayan murga and candombe styles. Their self-described Latingrass caught the ear of banjo innovator Béla Fleck, who produced Che Apalache's 2019 follow-up, Rearrange My Heart.
