Chimbala

Dominican rapper Chimbala, born Leury José Tejeda Brito in 1989 Santa Domingo, is one of Latin America's primary dembow artists, a kinetic reggaeton subgenre. His 2018 single "Maniqui" was a game-changer, pushing Chimbala to the forefront of the Urbano scene alongside hit-making contemporaries like Zion & Lennox, Justin Quiles, Guaynaa, and Don Miguelo. Collaborations with El Alfa, Mozart La Para, and Black Point have helped to expand his mainstream success, as have massively popular streaming hits like "Feliz" (2022) and "Che Che" (2024). ~ James Christopher Monger
