Claudia Russell has been making music since she was a child, but it took a long time for her to step out on her own as a singer/songwriter. When she finally started singing her own songs, she made up for lost time. WUMB FM in Boston named Russell the Best New Artist of 2000 on the strength of her debut Song Food. She was selected as a finalist in the Kerrville New Folk songwriting competition in 1998 and 2002.
