London-based psychedelic rock band Club Kuru sit on the softer side of the genre, backed by pristine production and lush melodic hooks.
Founded in 2012 as a solo project for classically trained pianist-turned-producer Laurie Erskine, he was looking to transition away from the London jazz scene, which was relatively quiet at the time. After a few solo releases, including the 2015 EP Layla, he decided to incorporate other musicians; Laurence Hammerton auditioned for him in 2016, sparking a fruitful creative partnership.
