Conductor Clyde Mitchell, founder and music director of the Lions Gate Sinfonia in Vancouver, British Columbia, took up the baton after a successful career as a French horn player. He has been active in both his native U.S. and in Canada.
Mitchell grew up in Satellite Beach, Florida, where he attended Satellite Beach High School from 1969 to 1973 and played in both the marching band (as drum major) and the symphonic band (as principal hornist).
