Thomas "Coke" Escovedo was a percussionist, songwriter, session player, and bandleader. A member of a distinct musical family, he was brother to Pete, Alejandro, Phil, Javier, and Mario Escovedo, and uncle to Sheila E. Coke and Pete both played with Santana until 1972. They formed Azteca in 1972 and released two jazz-funk records for Columbia in 1972 (Azteca) and 1973 (Pyramid of the Moon).
