b. 8 May 1976, Dublin, Eire. As a child Kenevey heard jazz through the record collection of his pianist father, a session player. From the age of 12, he studied classical clarinet at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, where he played with the symphony orchestra. While studying geography and archaeology at university he played drums and sang in Milestone, a Dublin rock band, and was director and conductor of the University College Dublin (UCD) Concert Band.
