A jazz banjoist and guitarist, Guesnon worked in many ‘Crescent City' bands from 1927 to 1965, often recording as a sideman from 1951. He also toured with Little Brother Montgomery's Jackson-based Southland Troubadours in the mid-30s, and it may have been this experience that prompted ‘Mississippi Town', a blues tribute to Jackson recorded in 1940.
