Dan Burley

Dan Burley paid the bills with his activities as a journalist, but music was always part of his life, going back to the '20s when he was a teenage boogie woogie piano player at Chicago rent parties and nightclubs. Just about anyone who played piano in this style knew about him as a result, and many of these well-known musicians kept tabs on Burley as he worked his way up to a position as theatrical editor of the Amsterdam News in New York City.
