Forming his own group, Danny Joe Brown Band was recorded with assistance from Bobby Ingram (vocals), Steve Wheeler (guitar), Kenny McVay (guitar), John Galvin (keyboards, vocals), Buzzy Meekins (bass, vocals) and Jimmy Glenn (drums). A mediocre selection of melodic hard rock material, the album failed commercially and the experiment was not repeated, as Brown rejoined Molly Hatchet the following year.
