The David Oistrakh Quartet was founded by violinists Andrey Baranov and Sergey Ivanovich Pischugin, violist Fedor Belugin, and cellist Alexey Zhilin. Pischugin, who had been a student of Oistrakh himself, was a key mover in the quartet's formation.
