Award-winning saxophonist David Sanchez blends post-bop jazz with his native Puerto Rican and Afro-Caribbean musical traditions. Long before releasing his leader debut The Departure in 1994, Sanchez apprenticed with some of most notable names in jazz including Paquito d'Rivera, Claudio Roditi, and Eddie Palmieri (a mentor who taught him to blend traditional Latin sounds with jazz).
