Dawn of Midi

The Brooklyn group known as Dawn of Midi are shaped like a jazz trio, but play danceable music in the minimalist style of classical composers like Glass, Reich, and Adams. Featuring bassist Aakaash Israni, pianist Amino Belyamani, and percussionist Qasim Naqvi, the group all met in Brooklyn, not in the studio, but in the lighted, parking-lot tennis courts where they played late-night matches.
