Dee-1 is an amiable underdog rapper inspired by the likes of 2Pac, Nas, and Lauryn Hill, as well as his Christian faith. The prolific New Orleans native released a handful of mixtapes before he made his proper album debut with David & Goliath (2009), a self-issued set that prompted an offer from Cash Money Records (which he declined).
