Dorothea Kehr, known as Dota, is a prolific German singer/songwriter whose bright indie pop sound is infused with bossa nova, jazz, folk, and other eclectic elements. Initially a street performer, Dota launched a recording career in 2003, setting up her own imprint, Klingeldprinzessin, to distribute her music. She has since become known for her strong DIY ethos and independent spirit, releasing a string of successful albums, most of them with her longtime band Dota und die Stadtpiraten.
