Douglas Boyd is a Scottish conductor and oboist. He was a student of Janet Craxton at the Royal Academy of Music, and he later studied with Maurice Bourgue. Boyd was a founding member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, and he was the principal oboist from 1981 to 2002. He became interested in conducting, and was guided by Claudio Abbado, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Paavo Berglund, and Colin Davis.
