Eddie Palmieri and Lalo Rodriguez

Eddie Palmieri (aka "El Maestro") was a ground breaking Latin jazz and salsa pianist whose technique incorporated bits and pieces of everyone from McCoy Tyner to Herb ie Hancock and recycled them through a dynamic Latin groove. His approach could be compared to Thelonious Monk's for its unorthodox patterns, odd rhythms, sometimes disjointed phrases, and percussive effects played in a manner that was always successfully resolved.
