El Jefe y Su Grupo were an electric guitar and organ-based vocal group from Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. Their sound was a seamless weave of boleros, rancheras, cumbias, and doo wop rock, all delivered through flawless four-part harmony. Founded in early 1974, they issued a dozen studio albums but were best known for 20 singles that charted on border radio in Northern Mexico and in the American Southwest.
