Biography
Slowcore outfit Recuerdo was formed in Peoria, IL, in 1997 by Jamie Drier, Tim Boniger, and Josh Bonati. Their debut on wax came with a 7" and split 10" for the local indie Silent Film Soundtracks. At this point, Drier departed to play bass with the emo unit Planes Mistaken for Stars. Boniger and Bonati continued on, issuing the Over the Empire EP in early 2000. The Meramac/Mahomet full-length (again for SFS) followed in 2003. The album marked the addition of full-time drummer Corey Flanagan to Recuerdo, and displayed a more focused dream pop sound. ~ Johnny Loftus
