Alan Ward had originally been the singer with punk hopefuls Bastard, which also included in its ranks future Damned guitarist Brian James. After the band split Ward assumed the pseudonym of Elton Motello, alternating between England and Belgium, where he had built up associations touring with Bastard. He made his debut appearance at the end of 1977 with ‘Jet Boy, Jet Girl', first in Belgium on Pinball, followed a month later by a UK release on Lightning.
