Biography

Born in 1942, Elvin Bishop spent his college years learning blues guitar basics in South Side Chicago clubs along with young harmonica boss Paul Butterfield, who would then form the influential Butterfield Blues Band with Bishop and guitarist Michael Bloomfield not long after. Leaving Butterfield in 1968. Bishop embarked on a solo career, mixing blues with soul/R&B, rock & roll, and the occasional dash of country. In the mid-‘70's, he had a massive hit with the atypical soul ballad "Fooled Around and Fell In Love" (sung by Mickey Thomas, later of Starship). After a hiatus for ...
