Known as the Lady of 6,000 Songs, singer/pianist Emma Kelly received recognition from the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. The 1994 book by author John Berendt assigned an entire chapter to Kelly, painting her as a strict Baptist who played cocktail lounges on Saturday nights but was able to teach religion classes the following Sunday morning.
