Biography

After starting his career as a pianist, Enrique Bátiz founded the Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de México ("Mexican State Symphony Orchestra"). One of Latin America's most widely known conductors, Bátiz was active throughout Mexico and Europe and had a robust recording career. Born on May 4, 1942, in Mexico City of Polish and Mexican descent, Bátiz began his piano studies with his mother before his feet could even reach the pedals and gave his first public performance at age five.
